Get in Touch

This private reference service is not a government office. It cannot confirm custody, arrange a release or bond, or retrieve an official booking record. Please contact the public office that created or holds the record.

Where to Direct a Request

Start with the custodian that matches the question. The Pettis Joint Communications reports page directs requesters to the responsible agency's administration or records division. A county jail question and a municipal incident report can have different custodians.

Pettis County Sheriff's Office
319 S. Lamine Ave.
Sedalia, MO 65301
Office and records routing: 660-827-0052
Public-safety function available continuously; administrative offices are closed on weekends and holidays.

The Sheriff's Office is the starting point for a county law-enforcement or records-routing question. For a particular booking, describe the person, approximate date, arresting agency, and the specific record sought. The county directory lists booking extensions 251 and 252, though callers should confirm current extensions through the phone tree.

Pettis County Jail
333 S. Lamine Ave.
Sedalia, MO 65301
Jail and current-custody line: 660-827-0056
Central control extension listed by the county: 285

The jail is the practical official contact for a current county-custody question. Ask whether an individual is in county custody, released, transferred, or held for another agency. The jail can also identify its procedure for a booking sheet or a lawfully releasable photograph, but no public online Pettis roster or photo policy was verified.

Pettis County Circuit Clerk
415 S. Ohio, Suite 324
Sedalia, MO 65301
660-826-5000, criminal/traffic extension 924
Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Use Missouri Case.net for a public court-case starting point. The clerk can help reconcile a public docket, not replace an agency's current-custody confirmation.

For an arrest handled by Sedalia Police, use the city’s Police Records Request route. La Monte and Smithton requests should begin with the municipal police or city custodian, then the jail for the separate intake question.

  • For current custody or a release-status question, contact the jail and consider MOVANS for reported custody or court notifications.
  • For an incident or arrest report, ask the arresting agency’s records custodian.
  • For a booking sheet or possible booking photograph, ask the jail or identified custodian for the Missouri Sunshine Law procedure.
  • For a court outcome, review Case.net and contact the Circuit Clerk if the docket needs clarification.
  • For a person who has entered state custody or supervision, search the Missouri Department of Corrections offender system.
  • For federal custody, use the Federal Bureau of Prisons inmate locator; immigration custody has its own official locator and agency process.

Charges recorded at booking are accusations. They can be changed, reduced, dismissed, or resolved later, so a court disposition remains the essential final check.
